All of our initiatives are designed and delivered by local people who want to make their own change, ensuring what we do stays relevant and impactful.
We want the way our organisation is run to be more accountable to and involving of the local community, which is why we have become a Community Benefit Society.
This is a type of organisational structure, which is owned and shaped by its members. Each member gets one vote, and one vote only, meaning everyone's vote matters and no single person's vote has more power than another.
Becoming a member of Bearwood Community Hub will mean you can:
Attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Vote on important matters, such as: approving budgets, accounts or priorities for the organisation
Stand to be elected as a board member
Vote on who becomes elected as a board member
The cost of membership is £1 per year. This is charged each year to help us maintain an accurate record of members and to promote active membership.
This fee is considered non-withdrawable and non-refundable, which means if you leave you are not entitled to this money back. This is standard practice for a co-operative society.
By becoming a member you agree:
To abide by the governing document of the society and support its objects
That the society may communicate with me via the method provided
To keep the society informed of any change to my name, address (including electronic address) to enable the society to maintain statutory registers
Membership may be withdrawn in the following scenarios:
Writing to the board requesting to be withdrawn from the register
Failing to pay your annual renewal fee
Failing to notify the society of changes to your contact details or registered address
