Wednesday Warm Welcome
A place for everyone to feel safe, connect and contribute. Come join us for a cuppa and a chat, art club, community lunch, free shop, ESOL and more!
Wednesdays (Term time only)
11:30am - 5:00pm
Bearwood Baptist Church Hall

What can I expect?
At 11:30am our doors open! Members of the public are welcomed in to the church hall and asked to sign in or register if it's their first visit - we normally ask for a name (whatever you prefer to be called!) and a postcode (this is to help us monitor our impact and the reach of our work).
Hot drinks are free and refillable all day. We have hot water urns and a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, with dairy or oat milk, and sugar or sweetener.
There are usually some biscuits, water and snacks available between 11:30am and 1pm.
Between 11:30am and 1pm there are activities available for all to enjoy:
-
Board games - chess, backgammon, scrabble and more!
-
Arts activities - bring your own artworks along or use some of our shared paper and pens
-
Sewing & crochet - learn the basics, share a skill, find others who like fibre arts!
-
Community shop - browse the community shop for clothes or small household items
There are lots of different activities happening at once in a large hall space. This can sometimes be quite noisy and full of people. If you are nervous about your first visit then please do get in touch with Lizzie at communityhub@bearwood.cc who can discuss the types of support or arrangements we can offer.
Here's what our entrance on Rawlings Road looks like:

Pay What You Can Lunch
In September 2025, we will be transitioning to a pay what you can lunch model to help cover the costs of the project.
However, we want to ensure that the community lunch remains affordable and accessible to all, so our pay what you can model includes a number of suggested contributions that can be selected based on individual financial circumstances.
On average, each meal costs the hub £2.00 to provide, but visitors will be able to choose their own contribution each session, whether that be 50p or £5.00. There will be no minimum charge.
