Birmingham Open Studios
September 20th - 21st, 27th - 28th
Now in its 9th year, Birmingham Open Studios allows artists and craftspeople of all experience to display their craft from their own homes or working studios. 165 participants exhibited across 73 homes, studios and venues during Birmingham Open Studios in 2024.
The public can view all of the artists’ work – for free – in the artist’s creative environment, giving them an insight into the artist’s lives and creative processes.
Public visits, purchases, praise and commissions give artists a reason to keep creating, and Open Studios means they do not have to pay high commission rates to galleries on sales, instead keeping the earnings themselves. Their ethos is to promote creativity in the area, with a focus on community cohesion.

2025 Artists at Bearwood CoWork

Matthew Eaglesfield
Matthew Eaglesseld is a self-taught fine artist based in Bearwood, working in acrylics, mixed media and monoprint. He creates work with a deeply personal connection – landscapes inspired by the local places he enjoyed as a boy with his grandfather, that he is now experiencing anew with his own son.
Carolyn Percival
Carolyn Percival is a poet and artist whose joyful watercolour drawings of birds and flowers succeed in bringing the natural world indoors. Despite showing an aptitude and enthusiasm for art at a young age, she was prevented from studying art formally, being required instead to take, what was considered at the time, more “gender-appropriate” courses in typing and secretarial work. Returning now to her passion for art, Carolyn shares her talents generously with others, and has been a pillar of the local art community for many years. She is a well-known cornerstone of our Bring Your Own Art Club, with a reputation for inspiring and helping others to unleash their potential.
