Volunteer Hub – FAQs & contact details

Yes. We would prefer that you take public transport to the hub, for the sake of our local environment, parking issues, and our budgets.  However, if that is not possible for you and you need to drive, we will pay 45p per mile for the return journey from home, up to the cost of a bus day saver.  If you have access needs we will pay the full mileage claim.  Your petrol costs must be claimed using an expenses claim form. Download the form, fill it in and send to bearwoodhubaccts@gmail.com with a picture of your receipts. 

If you take the bus we will refund the cost of your day saver when you show a valid ticket. We will usually to this by petty cash on the same day. 

For any other expense, it must be pre-approved by Sally or Lizzie.  Fill in an expenses claim form as described above, attach tickets or receipts and hand it in by the last working day of the month – paid within 7 days.

Yes – while you're doing volunteering we've agreed with you, you're covered by the Hub's insurance.

Talk to Sally or Lizzie first. If it isn't resolved, or you can't raise it with us, write to our Board members at board@bearwood.cc.

Tell a safeguarding lead – Lizzie Palmer or Sally Taylor the same day. Never handle a difficult situation alone.

Through the volunteer Signal group and email group – both are optional, but our experience is it's great when volunteers can be in touch. Other members can see your name but not your number in the Signal group.  To join, download Signal messaging app on your phone and then ask one of the staff members to invite you!

Let Sally or Lizzie know as early as you can so we can plan the day.
